Awarding points and achievements

Teachers can award points and achievements to reinforce key performance indicators that are not possible for the system to reinforce automatically, including the quality of e-mail replies, Reading Connections, and Thought Questions (steps 1, 2, and 4 of the five-step literacy routine).

  • Points: You can award 0, 5, or 10 points for each Email reply and each set of Reading Connections. You can award 0, 5, 10, or 20 points for each Thought Question response.
  • Achievements and Bonus Points: You can award achievements for specific exemplary behaviors that students demonstrate, such as making a text-to-self connection or using a new vocabulary word in their writing. Each achievement can be awarded once per student per school year. When you award an achievement, you are also awarding bonus points in addition to any regular points you awarded.
