Awarding points and achievements for email replies

  1. Log in to your Achieve3000 Teacher’s Edition.
  2. Click Admin at the top of the screen.
  3. Click the + sign to expand Student Work and select Email Messages.
  4. If applicable, use the drop-down box to select a school and/or class. Then click Submit.
  5. The page that appears has a series of drop-down boxes. Use the drop-down boxes to customize your report, if desired:
  • Who should we include in this report? You may select a class in this section or run the report for all classes. If desired, you can narrow down the report to classes from a particular content area. You can also select an individual user to view email messages from that particular user only.  Change the drop-down list to the desired language. 
  • Which type of users should we include? By default, Students Only is selected. Select Teachers Only to view emails that were sent by teachers. Select Students and Teachers to view all email messages exchanged in the class-–-both from teachers and from students. 
  • What date range should we look at? By default, the date range is set to one month. Edit the start and end dates as desired. 
  • Which emails should we include? By default, Emails that were sent is selected. To see emails that were blocked by Achieve3000’s filter, select Emails that were blocked.
  • Which work should we include? All student work is associated to the class the student was in when the work was completed. By default, Work completed in my class only is selected. To view work completed in other classes, change the drop-down list to Work completed in all classes. You can also use the Activity Type drop-down to include specific activity types, include the Lexile level Activity, Stretch Activities, or Bonus Activities.
  • How should we summarize the results? By default, Summarize them by class is selected. Select Summarize them by grade to see the information organized by grade. Select Show information on every user to see one entry for each student. 
  1. Click View Report.
  2. A list of email messages appears on the screen. By default, the emails are sorted by the Send Date. Some columns have labels that are in blue text with an underline. Click one of these columns to sort by another variable. For example, to sort the emails by the person who sent them, click Sender.
  3. To read individual email messages, click the subject of the email. After reviewing the student’s work, you may do the following:
  • Select points from the Points drop-down list, if desired.
  • Select an achievement from the Achievement drop-down list, if desired.
  • To respond to or forward an email, click Reply to Email or Forward Email at the bottom of the screen.
  1. Close the email message and email report windows and type your message.
  2. Points and achievements are added to the student’s profile points tally as soon as they are awarded.

NOTE: Points and achievements should only be awarded for positive behaviors, in order to avoid reinforcing behaviors that are detrimental to learning. Points can be awarded more liberally than achievements, which are intended to recognize very special accomplishments in the program.
