Visual data

The ability to interpret text features (e.g., graphs, charts, timelines, etc.) and functional documents (e.g., schedules, posters, recipes, etc.) provides students with new tools for understanding what they read.  Weekly exposure to graphs, charts, and other functional documents offers students the opportunity to interpret visual data in relation to the Article they have read.  This exposure, combined with the opportunity to use graph-specific vocabulary in a writing prompt, improves students’ reading and written comprehension.

Each week Achieve3000 incorporates a graph or a functional document into a Featured Article. In addition, the Bonus Lesson also contains visual data.
